Great request! I have a new camera coming in the mail that I'm really excited about shooting anamorphic with. I generally don't throw myself in front of the camera, but I will genuinely consider that!

No cropping in post and no vignette! I would recommend stopping down to at least f/2.5 on any lens you use. I was at f/1.4 here and I don't recommend it unless you're going for the soft, dreamlike look that I was going for here.

But how is it in bmpcc 6k? Do you think it will vignetting?

The lens absolutely! The camera would really depend on your line of work, may be worth saving a little more and investing in the blackmagic pocket 4k if you are trying to grow your business. The zhongyi lens on the other hand is a must have. Tack sharp at f/2

@@JoshuaStancea Thank you for your reply! I see that the lens is quite pricy though:( I was talking more about the camera. Since I am just starting out, it would be better not to invest too much, so I was considering this camera as my main option. Would you recommend it, or would you recommend something different within that price range? As I am writing this, I see that it was released on dec 13, so happy 4 year anniversary to this video!

UA-cam notifications are garbage, sorry I’m just now seeing this. I just used a random bag and positioned it safely. I definitely do not have a camera bag setup worth sharing lol Filmed on cfast. Ssd port broke and bricked my unit at one point and I completely switched to cfast from that point.

I wouldn't blame the Sankor for that, that has to do with my lens being set to f/1.4. While I was going for a dreamlike look, I would recommend stopping down when shooting anamorphic in general

Phil Mao I got mine on eBay. Gonna be honest, I recently removed it and don’t think I’ll be putting it back in for paid projects. I’d only use it to get the full frame for personal projects. Softens the image, adds another layer of glass that likes to fog up in humidity. But to answer your question, I’d recommend eBay.

Omar Roshdi It does significantly in full sensor readout. In 5.7k crop, the vignette practically disappears around 20mm

Softens the image a bit wide open, specifically the edges of the frame! I think it’s a little overpriced for what it does, but I’m overall enjoying my results!

For sure on micro 4/3, possibly without a lucadapter on the p6k. 50mm with the p6k is the widest I could go with the lucadapter.

Peter DiBussolo I’m guessing without Lucadapter installed you’ll have marginal vignette with 35mm. I wouldn’t put anything wider than 65mm (full frame equivalent on it) and would prefer to be around 70 for anamorphic. Would love to know your results though!

I've sold 2 of the clips in this, both from the drone lol. As a matter of fact, I've only had luck selling drone shots (5) I only have 50 or so clips uploaded, but if I upload more I'll just stick to aerial stuff - it seems to do better in stock

Denny I think it’s a little overpriced, given that it’s softer than the metabones and seeing as metabones also has electronic components to allow focusing and camera control. I haven’t actually a/b tested for sharpness, but as soon as I do - I can provide my findings :) one thing to note is that installation requires unscrewing and removing parts of the camera, and not screwing in the booster in enough can lead to lenses not being able to reach infinity focus. I say it does its job well, no major problems that I know of yet. Thank you for your comment!

Benne Takumar 50mm 1.4! I prefer it over the Helios 58mm, which I also own, because the aperture ring is on the back of the lens (the Helios 44-2 aperture shifts when focusing anamorphic.) I’m currently looking into getting a 50mm with IS for handheld like this. I love the look, but the footage would look better if I had some form of stabilization; prefer not shooting everything in slowmo. Thank you for your compliment! Was a lot of fun to color grade.

@@JoshuaStancea I see! Wow 50mm and no vignette. Takumar lenses perform well. I realy like the result. Also own the 58 helios but the contrast and color is pretty meh. Usually I use an 85mm nikon so I was suprised you could use a 50mm. A lot of crop?

Benne So I actually modified my p6k (1.6 crop) with the Lucadapter Speedbooster (now 1.3 crop), but the anamorphic mode crops in horizontally and vertically which brings it to 1.4ish. I did the math on it and I’m somewhere around the 70mm FF equivalent, which is essentially 35mm in 2x anamorphic; ton of numbers, sorry about that lol. @@JoshuaStancea So...using the booster with the scope, the widest you can go without vignette is 50mm? I thought the booster was supposed to bring it to a 1.1 crop. No? Did you notice much resolution/sharpness loss after installing the booster?

T.J. Penton I know it was 1.1 on the Ursa, but the p6k has a smaller sensor. The booster seems to have affected sharpness and infinity focus a bit, will have to test more

Gabo Guerra I tried balancing it on my ronin s with counterweights. It is incredibly front heavy, I’m going to try again and get the exact weight of the setup for you! That new Zhiyun looks great, how does it handle micro jitters? Thank you for your comment!

Open Films I own the Ronin one which it will hold it since I use Alexas Minis and Red Epics with it. But for smaller ser ups I’m studying the 3S. And your set up in theory sounds like a mid term (but awesome image)

Gabo Guerra My worry with flying this on a 3S is how long and front heavy something like this setup is. I can just barely get it flying on a ronin s with counter weights, still trying to find a way to also balance it with my focusing motor. That’s awesome man! Would love to see your work, I really want to get my hands on an Arri or Red in the future.

aramv Lens, my new setup involves a lot of duct tape to prevent it from shifting while focusing. Rig looks hideous, results are better.

​@@JoshuaStancea Have you looked into the Vid-Atlantic adapter? It's $40 and is designed to fit these old anamorphic projector lenses on nice and snug. I'm not sure if that is what the duck tape is doing but if it is I would definitely check it out. Great video too, good use of time of day and location to help show the capabilities of this lens.

Treyventures Helios 44-2 with Sankor 16C! Recently added the Takumar 50mm to my kit, which looks promising for anamorphic
